On Tuesday afternoon, the Miami and Dolphins and Pro-Bowl kicker Dan Carpenter agreed to a contract extension, that will have Carpenter staying in Miami until 2013.
The extension is worth just over $6 million. Carpenter is only slated to make $470,000 this year.
Earlier in the off-season the Dolphins front office rewarded the other two specialists on the team, long-snapper John Denney and punter Brandon Fields, with extensions as well.
Carpenter put in a Pro-Bowl season last year in 2009, and has been one of the leagues most consistent kickers in the league since he came into the league as an undrafted rookie back in 2008.
Carpenter converted 89.3% of his field goals last year, and had an average distance of 64.7 yards on his kickoffs.
Carpenter is looking to get back to his Pro-Bowl status again this year, and help get the Dolphins back into the playoffs, after the team missed out on them last year.
