Way to go Dickster! R.A Dickey showed Major League Baseball that if you wanna beat the Phillies, you need to learn a knuckle ball. Dickey went 6 innings with 7 punch outs of shut out ball(would have been eight strike outs if the umpire had glasses on an obvious swing and miss by Shane Victorino in the 3rd). Dickey had the Phillies off balance all night. Dickey only threw 103 pitches tonight and for a knuckle baller, that is pretty low. The thought was that Ryan Howard shot off of Dickeys elbow in the 2nd inning may have started barking…but that theory gets ripped to shreds as Dickey kept the Phillies off the board for 4 more innings after that. Either way, Dickey has been a pleasant surprise considering the disaster that is the Mets rotation right now. At this point, Maine can take his sweet time…no need to rush back. Great job Dickey.

I guess we must have all went for a ride in the Delorian because we saw some old school Jose Reyes tonight. Jose was a one man wrecking crew tonight, going 3-5 with 2 stolen bases and 3 runs. SNY had a very nice stat about Jose, since his debut in the league(2003) the Mets are 92-26 when Reyes has at least 2 runs. It looked like Jose had his legs back as earlier in the year, he was a few steps off before he was in full stride. Now, Jose looks more comfortable stealing 3rd than he does 2nd lol. Its sure nice to have the old Reyes back, he just has to be more consistent. Great night for Reyes and the Mets
HONORABLE MENTION
Jason Bay went 2-5 and had 2 RBI’s in todays game
Jeff Francoeur seems to have found his swing, going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s
Rod Barajas again taking it to the Phillies, going 2-4
Raul Valdez who earned his first major league save with 3 stellar innings of scoreless relief but also his first RBI double
