After that, the Mets surrendered 18 grand-slams before Jason Bay was able to hit one on June 28, 2011.
In between August 1, 2009 and June 28, 2011, Ryan Howard, John Buck, Derrek Lee, Danny Espinosa, David Ross, Melvin Mora, Hanley Ramirez, Mark Teixeira, Adrian Gonzalez, Jerry Hairston, Corey Hart, Shane Victorino, Felipe Lopez, Josh Willingham, Albert Pujols, Everth Cabrera, Jake Fox and Justin Maxwell all hit grand-slams against the Mets.
Jason Bay had 9 home-runs with the Mets starting the June 28th game, and has been struggling at the plate. It was great to see him happy walking back to the dugout, as he has shown such frustration at the plate.
But who would have thought Jason Bay would be the guy to end the streak?
He has only 10 home runs with the Mets since he was signed, and he only had 16 runs batted in this season until this point, where he added 4 more to his total.
"I'm thrilled for him," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "Nobody cares more to be successful, to help this team than Jason Bay does. "That was a huge swing for him tonight."
Jason Bay averages only 1 home run per month, not what the Mets expected. Though he does have 2 home runs this week which is very encouraging.
He is also getting support from his players and they feel like he can really be a big help to this already impressive team.
"We need Jason Bay to be on the field every day," Reyes said. "We don't worry about him. We don't worry about nobody to hit home runs. Right now, we're playing good and we're going to continue to play that way."
After Jason Bay hit his grand-slam, Carlos Beltran hit one an inning later.

The Mets only did that once before in their franchise, and now add another 2 grand-slam performance.
The players were aware of the streak, but they didn't care about it. They want to win ball games.
"I have heard on TV," Beltran playfully said. "On TV they mention it all the time what we're not doing. We are aware of everything we're not doing or maybe that we're doing wrong."
Bay also explained that he was able to sleep at nights they didn't hit grand-slams.
"It wasn't something that was sitting in here eating us alive," Bay said.
This game was huge for the Mets, as they finally pass .500 this season, after 4 attempts that they failed doing so. They also stop the grand-slam drought. There drought is now only 4 innings, much better then 299 days ago.
Now the Milwaukee Brewers have the longest drought.
The Mets have been on a roller coaster ride this year, but they have been fun to watch. Every day you see something the Mets do that you didn't see last year.
Now that this drought is over, the Mets need a no-hitter. They have waited 7,785 games to get one, and this club can do it, they have heart, they fight, and they are here to compete.
