'Melo In Orange And Blue Almost Guaranteed
| Written by: Brian Gray

As one general manager told SN, “Now it’s inevitable. I don’t know how many other teams are going to want to get involved in any negotiation for him, because who wants to go through what the Nets just went through? It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.”

These last few weeks have obviously been a roller coaster ride involving New Jersey, Denver, Detroit, New York and teams such as Houston and Dallas having the opportunity to possibly, "rent," superstar Carmelo Anthony. The only person who really knows what is going on is 'Melo and everything else is just speculation. As we saw earlier in the week, the Nets called off the dogs who were discussing the deal with Denver because 'Melo flat out stated he didn't want to talk to New Jersey and he told no one he would talk to New Jersey. Talk about putting the foot in their mouth.

The one thing I love the Knicks have done through this whole process is stay to themselves. Donnie Walsh has been in talks obviously with 'Melo's agent, but the low profile he has kept has been nothing less than stellar. Walsh knows what he needs to get and what Denver wants for 'Melo. He's known that since the summer since this whole hooplah started. Also, the another great sign for the, "'Melo to New York," campaign is that the superstar said the Knicks are his number one destination. Born in Brooklyn, 'Melo's wife has been involved in numerous MTV productions and they would have the best of both worlds for their family.

Now, we sit and wait. When, where, how and who will be given up to make this deal work. With the way things have been handled, don't be surprised if Walsh comes up with something clever and doesn't blow everything up that we already have. If that's the case. Felton, Fields, 'Melo, Amar'e, Turiaf as the starting five? I'll take that.Peace Up, Threes Down!
