About a week ago, we reviewed the updated Husker roster, looking for additions, departures and changes that could make a difference for NU in 2010. In terms of position changes, the search came up pretty hollow, coming up with only a move at backup center. Well, clearly we looked too soon. Nebraska just made a major change by moving tight end Mike McNeill to wide receiver. The move makes sense for an NU offense seeking more play-making. In the abstract, McNeill presents some very interesting match up options for Husker coaches to work with. But, monkeying around with a player's role can backfire. So, the timing of this move is crucial. McNeill has this spring practice period to emerge as a wideout.
