About a week ago, I reviewed the updated Husker roster, looking for additions, departures and changes that could make a difference for NU in 2010. In terms of position changes, the search came up pretty hollow, coming up with only a move at backup center. Well, clearly I looked too soon. Nebraska just made a major change by moving tight end Mike McNeill to wide receiver. The move makes sense for an NU offense seeking more play making. In the abstract, McNeill presents some very interesting match up options for Husker coaches to work with. But, monkeying around with a player's role can back fire. So, the timing of this move is crucial. McNeill has this spring practice period to emerge as a wide out.
