It wasn’t pretty and at times looked sloppy, but a win is a win! Donovan McNabb got a good reception from Eagles fans when he was introduced. I didn’t think he would get a bad reception because he really wanted to stay, but the front office thought different and traded him to us. There were some positives in our 17-12 win. We ran the ball very well early on with Clinton Portis and Ryan Torain sharing the workload. McNabb completed only 8 of 19 passes with a 1 TD and 1 INT, but 2 of them were huge! He hit Chris Cooley on a 31 yard TD and later hit WR Anthony Armstrong on a 56 yard pass on a big 3rd down play that led to a TD on that drive. We failed on numerous chances to put the Eagles away and we still have a lot to work on. We are now 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in the NFC East after going 0-6 against our division last year. One thing that bothered me was on our last drive we really hurt ourselves with a couple of mistakes that could have cost us the game. The first was by McNabb who after running for a big first down ran out of bounds and stopped the clock. He knows to slide and stay inbounds to keep the clock ticking and force the Eagles to burn a timeout. I’m sure he was caught in the moment and made a mistake, but you must keep your head at all times. Then later in the same drive we were facing a 2nd and 3 but had a false start penalty that set us back 5 yards and that play was responsible for us having to punt a couple plays later. The Eagles should have never had the chance to be throwing into our endzone at the end of the game, but those small mistakes almost added up to a very heartbreaking defeat, but they didn’t!
