Mayweather Jr: His Mouth Negated Any Excuses

Las-vegas-mayweather

No one is taking away that Mayweather is one of the best fighters in the sports. No one can argue that he has sacrificed enough to earn the right to fight whenever and wherever he wants.

But he only has himself to blame for all the criticisms he has been taking all this years.  Not only has he made bad choices, but his mouth always seems to put himself in the corner.

Many might have understood Mayweather Jr. for not signing the fight with Pacquiao since Arum set a deadline and he might not want the latter to get the upper hand in any negotiation.

Some might have even given him a pass since his trainer, Roger Mayweather might not be available to train him because of legal troubles.

But after boasting of his eagerness of fighting the best and constant proclamation that he is indeed the 'best' while demanding an unprecedented drug testing against Pacquiao, he threw away any reasonable excuses for not accepting the fight with Pacquiao.

After the victory against Mosley, he repeatedly said that all Pacquiao had to do was agree to his demands in regards to the drug testing and the fight will happen.

Oh really??  Well guess what, Pacquiao called his bluff and he still did not sign on the dotted line to fight the true pound for pound king.

Some may say that if Pacquiao can walk away from the first fight then why can't Mayweather do the same.

The difference is Mayweather Jr. was demanding drug testing that has never been done before in the sport.  In fact, Pacquiao already was open to undergoing a drug testing that was already beyond what was required of him.

Here, Mayweather is avoiding the fight after Pacquiao already agreed to his demand.  Remember when Pacquiao detractors said, "How can Pacquiao walk away from that kind of money.  He must be hiding something."

Well, how can Mayweather walk away from that kind of money when Pacquiao has already agreed to the blood testing that he demanded?

It seems clear that Mayweather's demand for Olympic drug testing was only a way to tarnish Pacquiao's legacy and further postpone an imminent fight with Pacquiao.

I thought Pacquiao was the easiest fight.  After all he's a 'midget' with limited skills that Mayweather can easily dispatched with one hand behind his back.

The truth is, Mayweather and his team know that Pacquiao has underrated skills and has improved greatly since the Diaz fight.  They've also seen how he not only dominated but destroyed his recent opponents.

Mayweather has never fought an opponent similar to Pacquiao who comes at you all twelve rounds while throwing a large volume of punches from all angles.  Knowing that, maybe Mayweather is being smart; after all his patented shoulder roll might be called the 'dislocated shoulder roll' after a fight with Pacquiao.

It's time to sign on the dotted line Mayweather Jr for the sake of your legacy since Pacquiao has already gone above and beyond his expectations.  Can any unbias analysts really put Mayweather Jr. above Pacquiao on the all time list if they retired without fighting each other?

It's time to put up or shut up since the fans know that all the trash talking and badmouthing of Pacquiao are just methods to hide your reluctance to fight the Filipino icon and sway the public opinion from his side.
