Manuel Neuer has been the center of attention in the latest transfer news. The clubs involved are Schalke 04, Manchester United, and Bayern Munchen.
Manchester United has their eyes on Neuer as a replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar as goalkeeper. Edwin Van Der Sar has announced that he will retire from football at the end of the current season.
The blog SoccerNews.com wrote an article explaining the reasons why David De Gea should replace Edwin Van Der Sar. I think Manuel Neuer would be a better candidate than David De Gea.
I have my reasons based on style, strength, statistics, and a desire to learn.
Style
Manuel Neuer would bring a totally different style needed at Old Trafford. Neuer is a dynamic and accomplished goalkeeper with an enthusiasm that is contagious.
Strength
Neuer is able to block most of the shots secondary to his immediate reflexes. He is also a threat in the offensive secondary to his ability to distribute himself evenly.
Statistics
Neuer has participated in 28 games in the 2010-2011 Bundesliga season. During the current season, Neuer has 98 saves and 10 clean sheets as a goalkeeper.
When he played for the German National Football Team during 2010-2011, Neuer participated in three games with seven saves.
Another Plus
Neuer was the number one goalkeeper for Germany during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He was instrumental in the string of German victories until Germany lost to Spain.
While Germany lost to Spain, Neuer was able to cement his position as the number one goalkeeper.
While Neuer has strengths, he has been working on improving his weak spot.
Weakness
Neuer should be concentrating on how to be assertive and commanding in the goal post. He is working on his weakness which means a desire to learn.
It is hoped that someone in Manchester United will read my article and sign Manuel Neuer.
