The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, announced today that they will be holding an open inter-squad scrimmage at Deering High School in Portland, Maine. Having a scrimmage at a high school like Deering allows the Red Claws to continue their strong relationship with surrounding communities.
The proceeds made from the scrimmage will go right back to the community and benefit the Deering High School athletic department. Tickets for the November 13th scrimmage can be purchased for $5 dollars by calling 207-871-7126 or by emailing DHSButler13@gmail.com. The scrimmage will also feature a halftime performance by none other than the Lady Red Claws dance team.
This will be the Red Claws’ third fund-raising scrimmage, with Red-White games last season benefitting programs at Lewiston High School, Edward Little High School (Auburn, ME) and Portland High School.
“We plan to make this an annual Red Claws tradition,” said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. “These fundraising scrimmages give our players an opportunity to get out into the community and come together as a team before the season begins while giving the schools a unique opportunity to raise much-needed funds for their school. Following the success of the scrimmages that benefitted Portland, Lewiston and Edward Little High Schools last year, we were more than happy to hold one at Deering this year. We look forward to many similar events in years to come.”

The Red Claws will begin their second season as a D-League franchise six days later when they host the Austin Toros at the Portland Expo, home of the Maine Red Claws.
