Boston Bruins power forward Milan Lucic will not receive a suspension after a late third period altercation with the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday. Many Bruins referenced the Dallas game of 2 years ago that helped be a turning point in the season. Steve Ott and Sean Avery running around taking cheap shots all game and in the third period Marc Savard jumping on Sean Avery and swinging away after a questionable hit. Peter Chiarelli released the following Statement: "The NHL has informed us that Milan will not be suspended as a result of the match penalty assessed to him during our game against the Thrashers last Thursday. He will be fined $2,500 for the punch thrown in the scrum and $1,000 for making an obscene gesture directed at the Thrashers bench. He will join the team on the flight to Florida and be available for Monday's game against the Panthers."
Maybe having Gregory Campbell in a Bruins uniform might have helped. Campbell is NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell's son.
