Most of the offseason, and early preseason talk has been about who? Shaq, Delonte West, Jermaine O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, and even Semih Erden. Well some of the old faces ARE, believe it or not, still here. One name we have heard very little about because he doesn't make a fuss, is Ray Allen.
I haven't gotten statistical for a while, so I'm going to go ahead and do that right now... Ray Allen's preseason stats:
PPG: 9.3 with a high of 14 in the first preseason game
FG%: 52.4% or 11-21
3P%: 25% or 2 for 8
You can't really read into the points per game stat too much, because he isn't playing regular season game-like minutes. But you can read into the shooting percentages.
The only thing that may be somewhat bothersome is the 3 point percentage. At the end of last season we saw Ray Allen fall apart after having his history making Game 2 performance in LA. After starting the preaseason with 2-3 from behind the arc, he has quickly gone 0-5 in his past 2 games.
Does this worry me at all? MmmmmmmmmmNo. Ray is who he is. He will have some rough games from 3 point range, but he will make up for it with everything else he does on the court. He will make the big shots in the big games.. I am just simply mentioning it as something to keep an eye on.
