A game breaking center to feed Phil Kessel. That's what the Toronto Maple Leafs were looking for this off-season. After missing out on Brad Richards, the Leafs have signed center Tim Connolly in a low risk deal for two years and $9.5 million. Connolly is not nearly as good as Richards, but he was the best center available after Richards and this is an excellent signing by the Leafs.Connolly was a former 5th overall pick by the Isles and was one of the lone stars from that horrendous 1999 NHL draft. The Leafs are hoping that he is the key piece that will help push them into the playoffs next season. Connolly is 30 years old and has had solid numbers over his career.
