Welcome to Volume One of "Late Hits", ClevelandSportsGirl's review of what went on in Browns' town last week. Stallworthless: The NFL is expected to lift the suspension of disgraced Browns' WR Donte Stallworth in February, and the Browns are almost assuredly not planning to bring him back for the 2010 season. The Browns got out from under a contract with Stallworth that would have been a massive drain on payroll (there was $25.2M remaining on the deal, good through 2014), paying out a total of just $9.605M to Stallworth for one season with the team.  For those keeping score at home, that's a bargain compared to the bad investment made across town by the Indians, who will pay Kerry Wood a minimum of $20.5M between this past season and the next.NFL teams aren't always known for allowing their moral compass to influence their rosters, but generally speaking, for teams to turn a blind eye one has to a) get a free pass from the law and b)  perform well enough on the field to make the potential bad PR worth it. Enjoy free agency, Mr. Stallworth. Hey, we can't all be Ray Lewis. Don't Cribb your enthusiasm just yet: According to various sources, including Josh Cribbs' agent J.R. Rickert, the Cribbs' camp was encouraged by recent "positive dialogue" with the team this past week, indicating that Cribbs may still get the contract he wants and deserves from the Browns. Said Rickert, "We've talked to [Browns President] Mike Holmgren and [General Manager] Tom Heckert and we have an understanding that we're going to work together on this. We have a much clearer indication that something can be worked out and that it's not just lip service."So take heart, Browns fans; the now-infamous Locker Clean Out may have been a bit premature after all.Whining is an inherited trait: Following up on son Braylon's comments earlier this season about an imaginary feud with Browns fans over the Ex-Cleveland receiver's University of Michigan pedigree, Stan Edwards threw more fuel on the fire by saying he is "100 percent sure" that Edwards' bad relationship with the Cleveland fan base was caused by the reluctance of local Ohio State fans to get on board with a former Wolverine. Papa Edwards whined on, "You guys all hate him. If there was continuity in the organization and there was one quarterback he was playing with and he was still making Pro Bowl after Pro Bowl, the relationship would have still been the same with the Cleveland fans."Consider yourselves warned, Jets fans: Braylon is just a few dropped passes away from an imaginary feud with pehaps, uh, NYU girls' field hockey fans.Looking Ahead to the Pro Bowl: The season isn't over quite yet for two Browns players, return man Josh Cribbs and Offensive tackle Joe Thomas, who were both selected for the 2010 Pro Bowl.
