St. Lucie got suspended with the lead in the 5th inning, and outside of that it was a lot of low-scoring pitchers duels outside of the GCL.  Let’s have a look: Las Vegas 6, Salt Lake 3The 51s scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th to steal a win.  Matt den Dekker was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.  Ruben Tejada was 3 for 5.  Lucas Duda and Zach Lutz had 2 hits each.  Kirk Niuewenhuis walked and struck out 4 times.  Rafael Montero pitched 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits.  Rob Carson threw 2 shutout innings out of the bullpen.  With a 3-game win streak, Vegas has a 1 game lead in the division. Bowie 4, Binghamton 1Greg Peavey allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings, but took the loss.  Josh Rodriguez and Joe Bonfe both doubled, but not much offense otherwise.  Despite the loss, the B-Mets clinched the Eastern League East Division with 3 weeks left in the season; they are more than 30 games over .500.  Cory Vaughn returned to the lineup at DH a day after being hit in the head.  Wilfredo Tovar was not in the lineup a day after leaving with a wrist injury. Savannah 5, Kannapolis 2Gabriel Ynoa won his 14th game of the season, allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, walking none and striking out 3.  Beck Wheeler notched his 17th save.  Brandon Nimmo was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s. Brooklyn 2, Staten Island 0Despite walking 6, Dario Alvarez struck out 6 in 5 scoreless innings.  Juan Urbina pitched 2 scoreless innings.  Just 4 hits for the Cyclones, but it was enough, as Matt Oberste drove in both runs.  Gavin Cecchini was 0 for 4.  Brooklyn moves within a half game of first place. Kingsport 1, Burlington 0Chris Flexen pitched a complete game shutout, giving up 2 hits and 1 walk, striking out 11.  On my unofficial prospect list heading into next season, I have Flexen ranked as the 10th best pitching prospect.  Amed Rosario was 2 for 3 with a double and RBI; the 17-year old is having a real good August.  The K-Mets have pulled within a half game of first place. GCL Mets 13, GCL Cardinals 10 (12 innings)Third round pick Casey Meisner made a nice start, giving up 2 runs over 5 innings, striking out 5 and walking none.  Gaither Bumgardner struck out 5 in 2 scoreless innings to get the win.  Jhoan Urena was 3 for 3 with a double and 4 RBI’s.  Luis Guillorme and Branden Kaupe had 3 hits each.  Oswald Caraballo doubled twice and drove in 2 runs.
