Kyle Busch got career Nationwide Series win number 48 tonight in the Royal Purple 200 from the pole position tonight.
Busch started on pole after today's qualifying session was rained out.
Busch led the most laps tonight with 49, but this win did not come as easy as most of his other wins have. Kyle got his "Darlington Stripe" early in the race when he slammed the turn two wall while leading. Kyle then restarted mid-pack after having his crew check the studs for the wheels to make sure they weren't broken. On that restart he was involved in a wreck that took out about nine cars. Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer, and Denny Hamlin went three-wide off of turn two and caused a big wreck. Busch pushed teammate Brian Scott out of the way and turned him into the inside wall, resulting in a very hard hit for Scott, and a decent amount of front bumper damage on Busch's car. But from there to the end Busch raced flawlessly to the win.
Tonight's win gives Busch 48 career NASCAR Nationwide Series victories and puts him one win behind Mark Martin for the all-time win total. Next week the Nationwide Series heads to Dover International Speedway where Busch is usually dominant, so there may be a very good chance that there is a tie for the all-time wins in the Nationwide Series after next Saturday's race.
Carl Edwards and Kasey Kahne looked very strong along side of Busch early in the race, but both sustained some heavy damage from the big wreck that Hamlin and Bowyer started. Edwards would finish in 20th three laps down, and Kahne would finish in seventh. Kahne also led the second most laps tonight with 42.
Notables: Kenny Wallace had another solid finish with an 11th place run, and Joe Nemechek had a fantastic night with a 12th place run.
