Knicks vs. Kings: Reaction
| Written by: Brian Gray

If there was any game so far this season that was truly a let down in my book, it happened Friday night when the Knicks took the floor at the Garden against the Kings. The Knicks came out of the gates after being on the road for four straight with what looked like no energy at all. Being back at home in front of the Knicks faithful fans and playing amongst the new buzz created by this team, the Knicks came out and laid a huge egg in a 93-83 loss. From the get go, the shooting was far from even average when the Knicks posted a season low 15 points in the first quarter. The offensive cohesion was now where to be found and the Knicks seemed to be a much more stagnant and stale group of players for the first time this season. This was the first game the fan base had rumblings and remembrance of the Knicks of old. That, is not a good thing. Shooting just 31% from the floor for all four quarters from two point range and managing to hit just nine of twenty-eight from beyond the arc, the Knicks dug themselves a hole they seemingly could just not climb out of. Now I would be lying here saying I am not disappointed in the play and the efforts put forth against the league's worst team. But, it is a long season and there will be learning curves for sure when moving forward. There is a method to my madness, however. It was cited that Donnie Walsh came out of a meeting alongside Carmelo Anthony's agent and seemed to be talking and shaking hands. Ok, so what? Anthony's agent is also Eddy Curry's agent and they could have been talking about ways to just dump that contract. But, with all the trade talks now focusing more on the Knicks with the possibility of a trade for O.J. Mayo and now perhaps involving Anthony Randolph in a trade for picks, there sure seems like a lot going on behind closed doors. Since New Jersey was so open about their trade and who they were involving and what it entailed, the Nuggets didn't seem to take to kind of that method. At MSG however, the possibility of names being tossed around in a deal that could bring 'Melo to New York is very likely. With the play on the floor last night, especially Wilson Chandler's poor night, is there evidence that someone may be shipped as soon as this week to bring the 'Melo factor to the Big Apple? Quite possible in the business side of things and moving forward, only time will tell.
