"Hip Hop Hooray, Ho, Hay, Ho!" That's what it felt like while watching an extremely lopsided blowout in the Garden last night. Finally, the Knicks seemed to have put things together where they were able to go out and dominate from tip to final buzzer and not look back. Perfect. Exciting. Marvelous. That's purely and simply what it was.
Amidst all the dunks, passes, blocks and three balls, the Knicks seemed to have one thing almost ironed out. If the Utah game last night was any indication, I would love to think that this Knicks team is starting to mesh it's chemistry issues. The same chemistry issues that fans and players have made an excuse for a crazy loss in Cleveland and other stretches of seemily bumpy road. Since the trade, chemistry was going to be an issue, but lets be honest shall we? These guys are professional and it's the game of basketball. Well, that game of basketball and professionalism was on full display as Carmelo Antony, Amar'e Stoudemire and Toney Douglas were able to spear head the first unit. 'Melo and Stoudemire hooked up countless times on pin point passing, often leading to an easy bucket. Douglas orchestrated a very fluid first unit and had another strong night at the point guard spot.
The Knicks put up 131 points and Andy Rautins was even able to log some minutes at the end of the game, scoring two points and tallying three turnovers. His longest action of the season. Derrick Brown, the newly acquired, lengthy forward from Xavier ended up with three monster dunks that brought the crowd to its feet. Roger Mason Jr. again hit some three pointers and played a nice role throughout the contest. I could keep mentioning the names and what they did, but all that really matters is the 131-106 final score at the end of the game.
Now, the Knicks will be in Memphis on Wednesday and then Dallas on Thursday. Another back to back road swing, much like the one last week against Miami and then Orlando. If the chemistry and cohesion serve me right, the Knicks can pick up two more wins and improve their stance as we move towards NBA Playoff basketball.
Peace Up, Threes Down!
