Kevin Nash and Booker T Sign With WWE: The WWE Perspective

Kevin nash and booker t

CAN YOU DIG IT........SUCKA!!!!

As soon as that music hit, all the hours of rumors and speculation were confirmed.  Then, 10 minutes later, the Rumble got Diesel powered, as not only did Kevin Nash return to the WWE, he did so under his original WWF persona.

With both men looking good and performing better than expected, new speculation began to circulate as to whether the former champions would continue on with WWE or keep their appearance to one night only.  Two days later, it seems we have our answers.

Actually, in the case of Booker T, the answer was available even earlier.  The six time champion signed a long term deal with WWE just before the Rumble, but the terms were reconsidered based on Booker's performance.  He was quite impressive in his limited time in the rumble, so rumors floated that Booker might be used in a wrestling capacity because of it.  Apparently though, at least not in the immediate future, will that be the case.  Word coming out of Nassau Coliseum tonight (just 20 minutes from me but I missed it due to weather fear!) is that Booker was at the commentators booth with Josh Matthews and Michael Cole.  Could this be the end for Matt Striker?

It could be, and this is something that Booker wanted to do in the first place.  He signed on with aspirations to do commentary and apparently he is getting that chance.  He should be pretty good in that role and I'm excited to see how he does with it.  Plus, he could still pull a Jerry Lawler and wrestle every now and again.  It seems like the perfect solution for the 45 year old and I'm sure the WWE is happy to be giving him a chance.

As for Nash, his future at first was more unclear.  As recent as last week, Nash was said to be all but signed, sealed and delivered to TNA to return as part of the Main Event Mafia reunion (something I will talk about in the TNA perspective of this topic), but he backed out in favor of the WWE.  I'm sure there's a mixed bag of emotions about this decision, but Nash himself seems pretty excited about the move if his tweets are any indication.

At the time of his Rumble appearance, it was thought that Nash's appearance was just for the night, but most figured that Nash would want to do more if possible.  A day later, it seems he will.

Nash has reported that he has signed a legends contract with the WWE, which should lead to some cool things down the road.  We could get a Nash DVD, action figures, and other merchandising, as well as special appearances and short feuds where Nash can work with some of the younger talent.

It appears Nash wants to end his career with the WWE as he claims they were always the best to him.  It's hard to believe him since he took more advantage of WCW than anyone not named Hogan, but I do think he is over TNA.  He made a comment on twitter that said "it's nice to perform in front of people" which would seem to be a direct shot at TNA and their miniscule audiences. Nash sees himself as a big star and wants more than that.

The truth is that Nash is still a name, but he better know that he can't go in the ring anymore and can't be a full time wrestler.  Maybe a match every now and again, but he can't engage full time in feuds and matches.  If he accepts that, he could be VERY beneficial to the WWE as an ambassador and such.  He has been around wrestling a long time and could certainly provide a lot of things to the WWE without actually performing in their rings.

That's the WWE side to this story as it seems both men are set to work for WWE moving forward.  However, both men were slated to return to TNA for their latest "they" storyline?  So how is this affecting TNA?  Check back tomorrow for the answer!
