Kelvin Hayden will be lost for the 2013-14 season following a torn hamstring at Wednesday's practice on Soldier Field. The nine-year nickel back will require surgery and 6-8 months of rehabilitation.
"Kelvin has worked so hard," safety Chris Conte said in an interview. "It's really tough to see him go down like that."
Hayden's replacement, Isaiah Frey, is a first-year pro looking to start his first regular-season game. The 2012 sixth-round draft pick appears to be the favorite to start.
