Jets, Pats Truly One For the Ages

Cotcher pats

Let me start this by saying that Sunday's game is the best playoff game I have ever witnessed the Jets play and this is coming from someone who was in attendance for the Jets 41-0 beat down against Manning and the colts back in 2002.  I guess the answer to my question last week is no the Jets couldn't get lucky all the way through the playoffs because they straight up dominated the Patriots. Sure the Pats had some major mistakes like the fumbled fake punt but if you look at the tape had Chung not dropped the ball Eric Smith was in perfect position to make the play in the back field. There is no way around it the Jets dominated the Pats in every facet of the game. The offensive line dominated their front 7, the defensive line man handled the Pats offensive line, Sanchez outdueled Brady and Rex although he wouldn't admit it out coached the Belichick.

There was nothing more satisfying then after ten long years of being dominated by the Patriots, then to see the Jets storm the field running in and out and all between the Patriots players while doing the flight crew dance, with Braylon Edwards topping it off with what is becoming his trademark backflip. It was also incredible that two of the Jets longest tenured players played two of the best games out of anyone on the team. Shaun Ellis the longest tenured Jet was a straight up animal, a man possessed with only one thing on his mind and that was getting too Brady. It clearly showed that he was taking his 9 years of frustration out on the Pats O-line on every single play, tossing them out of his way like they were simple blocking dummies. The second player was my main man Jerricho Cotchery, who is the fourth longest tenured Jet. Jerricho had been the Jets best weapon in the passing game for so long only to see himself go from the #1 WR to the #3 WR in a matter of one year. However he did so without complaint and simply became in my mind the most dangerous #3 WR in football. He made the play off the season with his epic and heroic catch against the Browns and as with Ellis, it was incredibly fitting that he had the best game of all the Jets weapons in what truly was the biggest game since Super Bowl III.

Also on a side note, Bart Scotts interview after the game was one of the greatest things I have ever seen. I wouldn't have been surprised if Sal Paolantonio found a little bit of doo doo in his underwear after that one. It also proved once and for all that Bart Scott may be the scariest man in America. As for the AFC Championship game in Pittsburgh, I CAN'T WAIT!!! till the Jets are crowned AFC Champs. This is our year, the Jets ARE and I repeat ARE going to win the Super Bowl.
