Despite the losing effort for the Miami Dolphins, there still has to be a player of the game on the Dolphins side of the ball. After all, they would not of even been close to winning the ball game if it were not for the Week 3 Player of the Game; Chad Henne.
Henne threw for a career high in passing yards, with 363 yards and 2 touchdowns, on a 26-44 night. Henne also threw an interception, but that was on the last play of the game, where Henne thew into tripe coverage in the endzone to tight end Anthony Fasano in a desperation effort to try and win the game. Henne's quarterback rating was a 91.4.
Let's face it, I very well could have given the award to Brandon Marshall, who by far had his best game as a member of the Fins, so far in his short tenure, but I have to give more credit to the quarterback in this case, because time and again Henne found the right wideout to get the ball to, and it just so happened that most of the time, that guy was Marshall. But fellow wide receivers Brian Hartline and Davone Bess had excellent games as well.
While Henne could not get the job done this time, he did show that while he needs a little more work on his accuracy, and timing with Marshall, that he can blossom into an elite passer.
So far this was the biggest game of the year. It was Miami's home opener, and was on NBC's Sunday Night Football, which is primetime television. It seems that Henne shows up to play the most on these primetime stages, and it showed on Sunday night.
Hopefully Henne can prove that he hasn't lost his touch to perform well in primetime games for next weeks Monday Night matchup against the division rival, New England Patriots.
