With the need for extra depth at the wing position the Celtics have started to look outside the box. Today, Chris Forsberg at ESPN Boston is reporting that the Celtics extended an invite to University of Connecticut forward Jeff Adrien... and he declined.
Adrien is a 6-foot-6 forward, who actually played the power forward in college, but would be very undersized at that position in the NBA. His reason for declining the camp invite was simple, he didn't see any opportunity to succeed in the system.
"I felt like with the Celtics, they're stacked over there, but it wouldn't be the right situation for me. Right now it's a business thing, and you've got to do what's best for you. I thought that was the best decision for me."
Adrien hopes to instead find a guranteed roster spot with a team like the Golden State Warriors. From a Celtics standpoint all you can say is: on to the next one.
