When it comes to being a fan of a sports team, there are many different categories of fans. There are casual fans of the game, fans of local sports teams, and then there is a group that follows one team with everything they got. I am proud to say I am in that last category when it comes to the Boston Celtics.
When I was growing up I was a four-sport Boston sports fan. As you would probably expect, I cheered for the Celtics, Red Soxs, Patriots, and Bruins. To this day I still cheer for all of those teams in their respective sports, but there is one team I just can't get enough. That one team is the Boston Celtics.
During this past summer I really found out my true colors. No longer would I find myself tuned into NESN for a Soxs game, or would I find myself getting prepared for the upcoming NFL season. Instead, I would find myself browsing the web for every little bit of Celtics news I could find, whether that was the signing of Shaquille O'Neal or Big Baby's "Teach me how to Dougie" video.
By doing this post, I'm not trying to brag about how big of a fan I am or anything of that sort. I know I bleed green, and I don't need to publish it to the world wide web to assure myself of it. Instead, I want to take this moment to thank all those true Celtics fans out there who follow the team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
You people are the fans that make the Boston Celtics fan base the best out there. It's not those people who come around during the NBA Finals just to have a reason to celebrate something; its people like you who dedicate your time even during the offseason to follow the team you love.
If you're taking the time to read this post in September, two weeks prior to the Celtics preseason, more than likely you are in the same category as me. Pat yourself on the back, and when June of 2011 comes around be sure to celebrate joyfully knowing that you support the Boston Celtics 100%.
