With the blue line as thin as it has, the Islanders moved to sign defenseman Radek Martinek. He signed a one year deal worth $600k.
With Visnovsky on injured reserve and the rest of the blue line inexperienced, aside from Hamonic and A-Mac, they needed to add a player who could step in and help relieve some of the younger players.
Not knowing when Visnovsky is coming back, Martinek will likely slot into either Matt Carkner's spot or Thomas Hickey's spot.
Either way, this team needs to find players who know how to win and will provide a winning atmosphere. They need help on defense, offense and goaltending. Let's be honest, if they really trusted Kevin Poulin he would have been given more games before now.
