No. Marquis Daniels is not in a gang; however, there are a few people out there on the web that would like to believe he is. A source called "Media Take Out" recently thought they were very intelligent putting out a report that Marquis Daniels is clearly a member of a gang.
What do they base their accusation on? The fact that his Twitter profile picture was a red hat and red sneakers, and the fact that he uses the letter "k" to replace the letter "c" in words such as "knt" and "komplain". Sounds pretty silly right off the bat to me, but Slam magazine decide to dig deep and interview Daniels on the subject.
Here is part of the interview:
SLAM: So what’s with the red bandana and gang signs in the pictures? Are you really in a gang?
Marquis Daniels: Of course not. The rag wasn’t mine. You want to know why I wear a lot of red? It’s simple. I think I look good in red. It looks good on me. So just because I like the color red that makes me affiliated? That makes no sense to me.
SLAM: What about the messages where you allegedly replaced the letter “C” with the letter “K?”
MD: That’s absurd, too. Who doesn’t shorten words in their text messages? And to say I replace the letter “C” with the letter “K” is crazy. Where are they getting that from? People are always searching for something negative to say. To even say that I’m in a gang is absurd. I would never put myself in that kind of situation. I respect myself, my family and my fans, especially the kids who look up to me, too much for that.
I guess someone was just digging a little to deep to get some attention. The people at "Media Take Out" also clasify NBA players as "usually pretty dumb" in the article.
That right there is why you should have to pass some sort of test before being allowed to publish stuff on the world wide web. There's way too many people out there that will push it to the limit just to make a name for themselves. Maybe I should report that Paul Pierce is pregnant next? That would bring us some traffic, right?
