Is Jason Bay Back To His Old Days?

Jason Bay was coming to New York after his fantastic 2nd half with the Boston Red Sox for 4 years and 66 million dollars. Mets fans thought their team had a chance to be something special going into the 2010 season.

Jason Bay was the missing piece, right?

The Mets could have got Matt Holiday but elected to sign Bay.

Bay hasn't been anything for the Mets he once was for the Red Sox, but did you really think he would hit 30 home runs with the Mets in Citi Field?

Although Jason Bay has only 9 home runs for the Mets since coming over, he is finally showing some signs of hitting, and with some pop.

In the last 10 games, Bay has improved his batting average from .207 to .241, with five of those ten games hitting more then 1 hit (two of them 3 hit games).

But that's not what has impressed fans the most. Every question he is asked by the media, he never has an excuse. You were able to tell his frustration when he was batting, and when something was hit, you would watch him hustle his butt of to get on base.

"I’m a realist. I’m not playing that well. That’s just the reality of it. Had I been out there hitting .500, I think I’d have a little more reason to have a little more say. It’s the way it is." Jason Bay explained.

There has also been Josh Hamilton talk about his blue eyes not allowing him to see the ball well in the day. Jason Bay has blue eyes and is hitting .050 better in the day because he wears sunglasses.

Anyway, it doesn't matter if Jason Bay hits home runs or not, what matters is that he drives home runners, especially when they are in scoring position. If he could bat in atleast 100 RBI's then he has earned his money.

Jason Bay's fielding is very good. He is quick reading where the ball is going, and has made some terrific players in the outfield.

It has also seemed like Jason Bay has got robbed of extra base hits this season many times, but fans don't see those nice hits on the stat sheet.

All in all, Jason Bay is playing very good ball now, and if he can continue his hitting, and all stars Davis, Wright, and Santana come back from their injuries, the Mets can really make some noise in the NL wild card.
