93 years ago today a future leader, role model, and historic icon was born. On September 20th, 1917 Red Auerbach was introduced to this great world for the first time. Over 89 years later Red passed away as one of the most influential people to ever hit proffesional sports.
When you think of the Boston Celtics, you think of many great players, coaches, announcers, owners, and more; however, there is one person that defines the Boston Celtics. That man is Red Auerbach.
Red developed the Boston Celtics organization in ways many people could have never done. During his time of over 56 years as a member of the Boston Celtics organization, Red helped produce sixteen NBA championships. More than any team official in NBA history.
Today we Celtics fans everywhere need to look back and honor the birth of the guy that made the Boston Celtics who they are today. Red, we hope your enjoying a fine cigar wherever you are today. Happy birthday, Red!
