It's a shame the Philllies have to come back to reality and face the Dodgers tonight after facing the Rockies. After losing a dreadful game 1 the Phils took the last two games of the weekend series in Colorado. With trade talks surrounding Phils' ace Cole Hamels he continues to dominate teams night in and night out. The offense finally came to life in the last two games by scoring 8 in game 2 and then 5 in game 3 with their all star catcher Carlos Ruiz leading the way once again.
The Phils faceoff against the LA Dodgers tonight who have been struggling ever since the loss of their superstar Matt Kemp. Although now he's back and has picked up right where he left off picking up 2 hits in his first game back and then 3 the next night. Facing the Phils tonight is Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi has struggled this year after putting up respectable numbers last season. Eovaldi is 1-5 with a 4.21 ERA. This will be the first time Eovaldi pitching against the Phillies in his career. For as long as I can remember the Phils have always struggled against guys like these who they've never faced before. With Joe Blanton on the mound for us, they might need to change that. Blanton has been solid against the Dodgers in his career but with a 4.66 ERA in his last 3 starts, the Phils could really use a solid start from Blanton.
One thing Phils fans can look forward to though in this series is the return of Roy Halladay, Halladay makes his return after being out almost 2 months with a strained lat. After an ok rehab start for Clearwater one can only hope the Phils didn't rush Doc back.
With how the bullpen has been this year, and the offense, and the pitching staff, I don't see this team making a run at all. Yes they won a series, but let's remember that it was the Rockies, a team with a 4 man pitching staff all on a pitch count, you sure as hell better be able to beat a team like that. They really should've been able to sweep them considering in game 1 they faced a guy with about a 10 ERA at home.
As always, LET'S GO PHILS!
