Malcolm Grant hit four threes in the first half and Miami leads top-seeded North Carolina 31-22 at the half.
The Tar Heels made just seven field goals and had an incredible 15 turnovers as they struggled with the two-three zone posed by Miami.
North Carolina coach Roy Williams was so disgusted with his team's performance that he replaced his starting lineup with five walk-ons at the 12-minute mark. The starting five returned after two minutes.
