We all have guilty pleasures. For some people, it's chocolate. Some men secretly like chick flicks. Me? I love watching wrestlers rant about each other.
It is so ridiculous to watch wrestlers take to battling each other over social media. In a business based around settling differences in a ring, it is laughable that some take to social media to air real grievances. My gut tells me that most are doing it out of jealousy or the need for attention, but who knows what these guys are thinking half the time.
Over the past few months, we've seen the Hardy's nonsensically rant about everyone, from Matt's famous war with Paul London, to the intoxicated attack on CM Punk and Lita by both brothers. We've seen their buddy Shane Helms continue to attack Shawn Michaels for reasons unbeknownst to anyone, and we've seen plenty of others. However, one I saw tonight caught my eye.
The Hardy brothers have made it a hobby of calling people out over youtube or twitter, but it was about time that someone fired back. Yes, Paul London had his time, but he merely feuded with Matt. Finally, someone took to attacked BOTH of them, along with their friends.
While I may not agree with everything said in the video below, it's amusing to see the former Val Venis go off on the North Carolina boys. He calls them out for being talentless and essentially being spot monkies, which is no longer true. Both men are fatter and out of shape, rendering them useless when it comes to hitting spots. Thus, the proper insult would have been that without the spots, their ring work is average at best. Still, it's funny to hear this rant.
I always liked Val Venis and felt like he could have worked main events. People laughed when he went to TNA because he hadn't meant anything in a while, but I believe he deserved a shot back in the day. His gimmick was fun and he could actually work pretty well. Maybe that gimmick pigeonholed him to the midcard, but the guy had some discernible wrestling talent. Decide for yourself whether you agree with his rantings. If nothing else, they are fun to listen to.
On another note, the final installment of the 2011 series should be coming tomorrow. Once that is done, we'll be on to bigger and better things!
