Stitt named as candidate for Bob Cousy Award
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Demontez Stitt as one of 66 candidates for this year's Bob Cousy Award, which is awarded to the nation's top point guard.
Stitt is averaging 13.8 points per game in his senior year and is currently out after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
The list of candidates will be trimmed to 20 on Jan. 3, to 10 on Feb. 3 and to five on March 3.
Hopkins to join basketball team after bowl game
Standout freshman wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has decided to bring his talents to the basketball court after the Meineke Car Care Bowl to try to help a Clemson team that has become very thin in the backcourt.
Hopkins was a three-star basketball recruit coming out of Daniel (Central, SC) and had scholarship offers from Florida, South Carolina, and Wake Forest for basketball.
Coach Brad Brownell likely hopes that Hopkins can contribute immediately and earn valuable minutes. Dabo Swinney apparently feels the same way.
"If he's going to be over there, he doesn't need to be pulling splinters out of his rear," Swinney said. "If he can help them, go help them. If not, he needs to get back over here to work."
