Sometimes its tough to remember how truly dominant Grant Hill was in his heyday before he got hurt.  At 37, he is the oldest starter in the NBA.  5 straight seasons in Detroit scoring over 20 points per game.  3 seasons of over 9 rebounds a game.  7 consecutive seasons to start his career averaging over 5 assists a game.  I know the stigma of the Duke basketball player is that they don't produce at the NBA level as well as they did in college.  However, I would say the stigma should be changed to they never stay healthy.  If you think of some of the Duke alumni in the NBA now, a lot of them are good players...when healthy.  Just look at the list below and the first thing that will come to mind is injuries, not failed potential:

  • Grant Hill
  • Elton Brand
  • Carlos Boozer
  • Mike Dunleavy
  • Corey Maggette
  • Jay Williams
