Intense. This. game. was. intense. In fact, at its peak leverage (Ryan Theriot's at-bat in the ninth inning with two outs and the bases loaded), the LI was 9.28; that's insanely high. For comparison, the highest leverage situation in the Giants' previous game -- their win against the Padres -- had an LI of 1.70. Tight games like this are simultaneously stress-inducing and fun. It's classic Giants baseball, as established in 2010. Note: I refuse to say the word "torture" in my discussion of this game.This seemed like a typical Sanchez-ian start. He walked the first batter of the game on four straight balls; and he lasted only five innings. But it was by no means a bad outing: 5 IP, 7 K, 2 BB, 4 H, and 1 ER. I'm prepared to expect these kinds of starts all season Long from Sanchez....
