One of Georgia's key defensive players will be able to play in Week One against Buffalo after having his suspension lifted.

Cornerback Branden Smith was arrested in March for a misdemeanor marijuana possession but Georgia head coach Mark Richt has decided to allow his cornerback the opportunity to play in Week One.

Smith was one of three defensive starters to get arrested in the offseason but will not serve a suspension like cornerback Sanders Commings and linebacker Chase Vasser.

The senior cornerback entered into pretrial intervention in May and has passed drug tests to show that he is no longer using marijuana.

Georgia defense lost only two starters off of last year's team and Smith will bring added depth back to the secondary. He's also a multi-use player as he was used on offense and special teams.

It looks like the Bulldogs finally got some good news as they head towards the season-opener against Buffalo.
