Maybe a little bit of a stretch for an article, but I am going to run with it because it is absurd what is going on for the prices of Opening Night.
Sure, the Celtics vs. Heat on the first game of the season will be special. The Garden will be completely electric LIKE it was a playoff game.. The only problem is... It's not. Don't get me wrong, if I were to go I would yell just like it was a playoff game, but the game does not at all have the same implications.
It is 1 game of the regular season. Because of that exact reasoning, I can't bring myself to understand the ticket prices that I am seeing on StubHub. $194 starting price for balcony. You do the math: Add 10% commision and $15 total for shipping. That is $218 per ticket (assuming you bought a pair, more if you didn't) to sit in the 11th row of the corner balcony.
Do you want to know what the prices were to go to Games 3 or 4 of the NBA Finals? Ding a ling a ling. You Got It! That exact price I just mapped out for Opening Night. A game in the championship series OR game 1 of the regular season?
Its bizarre. I remember going to Opening Night when the Celtics raised the banner against the Cavs. Just slightly ablove the price I listed for balcony tickets to this years opening night was where Loge tickets were starting. Oh, but I almost forgot to adjust for inflation.. Yeah right.
Looks like cheap ol me will just be sitting on the couch watching the game. Oh well.. It is still a very intriguing and exciting matchup nonetheless.
