Gamecock Football Recruiting: ATH Pharoh Cooper gives USC his commitment
South Carolina had one of its better days in recruiting on Thursday.
They picked up two quality defensive end prospects in David Johnson and Devin Washington. The train didn't stop there. ATH Pharoh Cooper decided to go ahead and commit to the Gamecocks on Thursday as well, making that three commitments in one day for the football team.
Cooper is one of the better players in the state of North Carolina and is capable of playing both sides of the football. USC already has in mind where they want him, and that's defensive back.
He told TheBigSpur.com that he likes the 4-2-5 defense that USC employs with that extra defensive back giving him a better chance of getting on the field earlier. Cooper was put on commitment watch in the last few days by The Big Spur and it really did seem like a commitment would come any day now.
Cooper looks good on film and the staff seems excited to land his commitment. Cooper will most likely start out as a cornerback but could also play safety.
The three-star recruit had offers from N.C. State and East Carolina before deciding to commit to South Carolina.
This is the Gamecocks' 12th commitment in the 2013 recruiting class.
