South Carolina enters the season as the No. 6 ranked team in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll released Saturday morning.

This is the highest preseason ranking for the Gamecocks ever in the AP's Top 25 preseason poll. South Carolina opened up at No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which also the highest preseason ranking for the Gamecocks in that poll as well.

The SEC found itself with five of the Top 10 teams with Alabama coming in at No.1 followed by Georgia at No. 5, South Carolina at No. 6, Texas A&M at No. 7 and Florida at No. 10. LSU was the other SEC team in the Top 25 and they checked in at No. 12.

The Gamecocks will play three teams ranked in the Top 10 this season in Georgia, Clemson at No. 8 and Florida. No other opponents for the Gamecocks are currently ranked in the Top 25.

It looks like another banner year for the SEC and South Carolina is now considered one of the SEC powers thanks to star talent like Jadeveon Clowney.

How will the season play out? Only time will tell but it's certainly good to see the Gamecocks get the recognition they deserve.
