Here are some quick bits of news from around the Internet this morning:
- Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue is working with the Big East in an effort to combat the Big Ten's expansion. He said that the expansion is "going to have a terrible negative effect on everyone other than the schools in the Big Ten."
- Otto's Army has spoken, and they are not in favor of conference realignment. Mainly because, you know, Syracuse's rivals are in the Big East. And if Syracuse moves to the Big Ten, bye bye any football success. Have fun losing games by an average of 40 points. Or stay in the realigned Big East, which may compete with the Atlantic 10 for NCAA Tournament bids.
- Jim Boeheim, the most prominent person in support of massive tournament expansion, told the USA Today what he thought of the expansion to 68: "Some expansion is a good thing. I don't know if anyone wanted 96."
- Greg Paulus, NFL draft sleeper? That's what the New York Times' Matt Waldman says.
- SU lacrosse coach John Desko's son, Tim, has stepped up his game lately. After looking like he wasn't going to cut it at the top level, Tim Desko has come back from a four game absence due to injury and is playing as well as ever. Syracuse plays its final home game of the year Saturday against a winless Providence team at 2 p.m.
- Syracuse women's lacrosse team, No. 11 in the nation, travels to Cincinnati today to play the Bearcats.
- A fun story by my softball beat partner Mike Cohen on Syracuse softball's walk-up songs at home games. I have embedded the video of my personal favorite from the team, "Return of the Mack" by Mark Morrison. Syracuse plays a three-game series at home against Connecticut this weekend.
