I think when Manning retires the Colts will go from the best to the worst in the NFL. Peyton Manning will have almost every single statistical record for a quarterback when he retires.
That will be bad for the Colts though. Curtis Painter can't lead the Colts, you saw how he performed against the Jets and Bills.
They have to draft a quarterback in the next few years. If the Colts were smart, they would have drafted Jimmy Clausen at #31. He would be a great back-up to Peyton for a few years. For option two, the Colts could get immediate help and sign a veteran free agent quarterback.
The Colts will have a top 5 pick every year after Peyton retires. Unless, they pull a miracle and draft a great quarterback or Addai starts to be a fierce runner.
Will 2010 be Peyton's last year in Indianapolis? I don't think he'll have a contract holdout next year, but you never know.
