What does Floyd Mayweather constantly proclaim? He is the pound for pound king, main draw and has no fear of Pacquiao.
He may be the most talented boxer in terms of overall skills and many fans won't argue with that fact, but it's another story when talking about him as the supposedly best and most popular boxer. In fact, he only has to look at himself to know the truth.
How can Floyd Mayweather, be the most popular boxer when he is the in the headlines for the most part only when Pacquiao's name is attached to his. Actually, he may be Pacquiao's biggest fan since the Filipino icon's name is always at the tip of his tongue. Besides only an obsessed fan will wake up in the morning with the thought of Pacquiao and wake up a friend to talk about him as he did with his 'studio gangster' friend, 50 cent. I wouldn't even put it past him, if he counts the number of Pacquiao's knockouts instead of sheep before he goes to bed.
As far as Floyd's proclamation that he does not fear Pacquiao and will kick his a@#$, I have to see him sign on the dotted line first before I believe it. Where was he during the second negotiations and when it broke down? He was nowhere to be found and denied that there were any negotiations at all. Of course, many found it difficult to believe him when Ross Greenburg of HBO stated that there were indeed negotiations. In fact, he just started talking trash again after Pacquiao's fight with Margarito was finalized.
In the case of being the so called greatest of all time, one only has to look at the resumes to see which one is better. Pacquiao has been more consistent as far as fighting tough opponents from the start of his career until now. Sure he dominated Mosley and he should receive full credit, but that doesn't diminish the fact that for a certain amount of time, he failed to face the numerous top contenders. Even his win against Mosley is less impressive now because of the latter's disappointing performance against Mora.
In addition, Pacquiao has been named fighter of the decade and fighter of the year three times. What is more impressive is Pacquiao is the only boxer in history to win a title in seven different weight divisions. As a result, Mayweather has to constantly trash Pacquiao since just sticking to boxing and comparing their resumes won't accomplish his goal of downgrading Pacquiao's accomplishments.
So maybe, it's understandable that Mayweather is losing it because with all his talent, he has not been able to maximize his potential and with his age, he may never be able too unlike his rival Pacquiao. In fact, Pacquiao has accomplished so much that even with a loss to Mayweather, he probably will still be seen as the greatest fighter of his generation and he only has himself to blame.
