Jeff Demps largely carried the Gators today with a career high 158 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Rainey had an ankle injury and was out for the game. With Vanderbilt pressing Florida with consecutive touchdown drives, cutting the lead to 20-14, Demps ran for a 52 yard touchdown. After a failed 2 point conversion, the Commodores QB Jordan Rodgers connected with Chris Boyd on the next drive. With about one and a half minutes left, Vanderbilt kicked an onside kick which was caught by Jordan Reed to seal the game.
John Brantley, who threw 16/24 for 173 yards, also injured his shoulder in the 4th quarter and Jacoby Brissett took over for the rest of the game.
The penalty difference greatly helped Florida, who was only flagged 3 times for 17 yards, while Vanderbilt was flagged 12 times for 106 yards.
This was Florida's first win since September 24th, and their 21st straight win against the Commodores.
