Well that was something.
The Mount with an aerial attack in the first half to take a 45-31 intermission lead over Navy.
Rashad Whack set the stage knocking down 3 three-pointers for the first nine points of the game as the Mount made 9-of-22 during the first half.
Sam Prescott and Julian Norfleet also got into the act knocking down some long-range bombs and finished the half with 11 points.
The Mount defense hasn't forced the quantity of turnovers that we've become accustomed to seeing, as Navy only turned the ball over 8 times, but the quality was good for the Mount as it turned those 8 possessions into 14 points.
Another great number to see for the Mount is that they have 10 assists on 15 baskets. The point guards Shivaughn Wiggins and Josh Castellanos have combined for 7 of those ten, with the freshman notching four off the bench.
I'm a little concerned after such a great first half. I certainly don't expect the Mount to make another nine three-pointers in the second half. I mean there's no Scott Murphy out there - he had 40-couple on a double digit three night at Wright State many years ago. Therefore, I think the Mount has to be able to work the ball into the lane. The post players have all been succesful inside in limited chances. Kristijan Krajina, Raven Barber and Taylor Danaher have all made their only attempts.
Still, I think it's going to be extremely hard for Navy to recover. Ultimately, the Mount is going to win this by double digits. But let's watch the second half just to be sure.
