Roger Penske has never won a NASCAR Nationwide title. That will all change in a few months as Brad Keselowski has all but locked up the title.
Critics can say well Kyle Busch doesn’t race full season and if he had he would be leading. Well here is the thing, he is not and Keselowski and his team have done everything they needed to do.
Lets be honest, it’s not like Keselowski ran 20th every week and pulled out a few good finishes here and there.
Keselowski has led laps in all but six races in 2010 in all he has led 1, 017 laps. Has run in the top 15 in 94% of the laps run this season. In 2010 he has four wins, 21 top fives, 24 top 10 finishes. He has improved on qualifying with an average start of 7.9 and an average finish of 5.6.
It is not easy to win a title in this sport. Its not cake walk and you don’t trip into a title or luck into one. From lap one at Daytona to the final lap at Homestead nothing is guaranteed.
Keselowski and his team haven’t let up they have been fighting hard for every win and every finish this season. When Keselowski lined up behind Joey Logano at Kansas on the final restart, he could have gotten around him.
Instead he gave Logano a good push that propelled Logano around Busch and onto the win.Logano acknowledged the push by Keselowski in victory lane.
The possibility of NASCAR changing the rules for Sprint Cup drivers not being allowed to run for the NNS title in 2011, Keselowski could for now be the last double duty driver to win the title.
Nobody thought this brand new team at Penske would not contend every week, let alone win a title.
Keselowski is proving every one wrong and bringing Penske a NASCAR title.
