One of my favorite Youtube videos comes from a Bruins game on January 5th 2002. Bruins enforcer PJ Stock took on Washington Capitals tough guy Stephen Peat in an epic fight. It was ranked the best fight of the decade by hockeyfights.com. The fight happened while the Boston Bruins were up 6-3 in the 2nd period. Stock hit Washington defensemen Rob Zettler hard into the boards, and the Washington Capitals brass took offense to it. So Stephen Peat was sent out to fight Stock.
PJ Stock did not have to go as the announcer said but opted to anyways. Stock and Peat dropped the gloves which resulted in an epic fight. Stock and Peat must have traded at least 20+ punches in the best hockey fight of the decade. The play by play guy was amazed and said “folks this is one of the best hockey fights we have seen in a long time.” The announcer was right, and it was the best of the decade. The fight is just awesome as any hockey fan would notice, but you really just have to watch it yourself. It has left me almost speechless.
There is no doubt that it was an awesome hockey fight, but who do you think won the fight? I am going to give the edge to Stock. I think Stock through more punches than Peat, but it was definitely a close fight.
