Former Washington standout Will Conroy, who starred with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA Development League, will sign a 10-day contract with the Houston Rockets and report Friday.

Since leaving UW in 2005, Conroy, 27, has chased his NBA dream. He's played seven regular-season games, four with the Los Angeles Clippers and three with Memphis.

The Rockets have scouted Conroy, a 6-2, 195-pound guard, for awhile. He played on their Summer League team and appeared in preseason games, averaging six points and 2.6 assists. He was the third point guard behind former Franklin High star Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry and waived in training camp.

Houston kept close tabs on Conroy as its D-League affiliate, the Vipers, traded with Albuquerque for him.
