TGIF! Today is Friday, and you know what that means; it's time to wrap up the first week of ESPN Boston's three week Celtics Summer Forecast. This past week a panel of eighteen experts, from eight different Celtics blogs, gave their opinions on five of the biggest questions going into the 2010-2011 season.
Today's questions is a question I have already tackled briefly here on Gino's Jungle. With fourteen players currently on the roster there is one spot open for a potential free agent to sign on with the team. ESPN Boston wanted to know who that player would be.
Here's my answer:
Nobody. You might say I'm going out on a limb by saying this, but I truly believe Danny will leave this spot open for possible acquisitions during the month of February. Right now, with what's left on the market, there really isn't anybody out there that can come in and make a huge impact. At the most I can see the spot being filled with a Tony Gaffney or Oliver Lafayette, so that if someone good comes along they can easily buy out that players contract.
There's really not much more I have to say to explain that answer. With the days dwindling down until the start of training camp it doesn't look like the Celtics will add another impact player. Rudy Fernandez is a mess right now, and the other option - Larry Hughes - isn't a very promising one.
So that's a wrap to this week's Celtics Summer Forecast on ESPN Boston. We'll be back next week to tackle five more burning questions regarding the 2010-2011 season. Until then, if you haven't already, check out the five questions we tackled this week.
