This matchup was one of the most hyped soccer matchups in FIFA World Cup history, it lived up to the hype.
England started off with momentum, Steven Gerrard scored a goal in the 4th minute.
It looked like England was going to dominate the game, but the United States wouldn't give up.
For the next 36 minutes it was many shots on goal and great defensive saves by both teams. Then, a mistake changed the momentum to the United States.
Clint Dempsey kicked a desperation shot on goal, it looked like it wasn't going to go in.
Robert Green, the England goalie changed that though. He tried to save the shot, but it went off of his hands into the goal.
This gaffe by Robert Green brought United States confindence going into the half.
After the intermission, both teams played lockdown defense for the last 45 minutes.
Wayne Rooney and Landon Donovan were shut down in this game. That was very shocking to see happen.
Everyone though the United States couldn't contain Wayne Rooney, but proved every one wrong.
Also, Oguchi Onyewu returned to his first FIFA World Cup game since his qualifying match injury last year.
Overall, I thought England was going to win, but the United States' defense played well.
I think England and the United States will advance past Slovenia and Algeria in Group C into the knockout round.
