Kyle Singler scored 29 points and Duke beat Maryland 87-71 in the second round of the ACC Tournament.
The Blue Devils used a 13-3 run late in the second half to put away the pesky Terrapins.
Maryland trimmed Duke's nine-point halftime lead to just one on Pe'Shon Howard's jumper with 12:03 to play.
The Blue Devil run began with a Singler layup with 8:50 left and culminated with his jumper five minutes later. The five-minute stretch pushed Duke's lead from three to 13, and Maryland couldn't recover.
Four other Duke players scored in double figures, but it was Singler's play that kept the Terrapins from spurring the upset.
Singler's performance overshadowed an impressive effort by Maryland's Jordan Williams, who scored 16 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the loss. He struggled at the free-throw line, however, where he made just 2 of 10.
Normally reliant on the 3-point shot, Duke made just 3 of 15 from beyond the arc but was still able to shoot nearly 50 percent from the field.
Duke will face the winner of the night-cap between Florida State and Virginia Tech.
