Coming off a hard stretch of four games in five nights, with two road games sandwiched in between two home games, the Bulls needed a lift and got one from their superstar Drose.
The Bulls had two very disappointing losses to the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday and the 76ers on Friday needed to win Saturday to avoid their first three game losing the streak of the season. That is where Rose came in, stepped up and refused to let his team lose. He lead all scorers with 36 and went to the line a career high 9 times. His previous high was 13 which came during the home opener this season against Detroit.
The only real negative of the Bulls play was the huge amount of turnovers. The Bulls had 21 compared to the Celtics 6 yet somehow Chicago managed a 90-79 victory. This marked the Celtics first trip to Chicago this season, the first two matchups which the Celtics won were in Boston. The two teams won't face each other again till April 7.
Carlos Boozer racked up another double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Luol Deng made a late run at a triple double with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The most noteworthing stat of the night is Taj Gibson going scoreless in 18 minutes of action but did have a key run during the 4th quarter where he blocked a shot on three straight possessions. He finished with 4 blocks and 4 rebounds.
The Bulls will get a little bit of a rest tomorrow to gear up for a big week that will see them playing the Pistons (Monday), Bobcats (Wednesday) and Pacers (Friday) before they they see the Miami Heat for the first time this season on Saturday. Let's hope the Bulls can string some wins together this week and then step up their play against Miami just like they did against Boston this time around.
It should be a fun week and I can't wait till Saturday.
